'Chicago P.D.' season 3 spoilers: Wedding off as Ruzek regrets proposing to Burgess?

It looks like the wedding is off for Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) and Burgess (Marina Squerciati) when NBC's "Chicago P.D." returns for its third season.

Entertainment Weekly reveals that Ruzek may have rushed through with his marriage proposal, as he is now regretting his promise to Burgess. Executive producer Matt Olmstead said in an interview that the wedding may be cancelled because the male officer may have bitten off more than he could chew.

"What Burgess begins to realize is ... as opposed to really wanting to get married, he's getting a buzz off being engaged. People buy you drinks, you get the attention, but when it comes to actually picking out the font for the save-the-date cards, he's not that interested," Olmstead said.

Meanwhile, Lindsay (Sophia Bush) is coming back to the fold after deciding in the season finale that she is done with being a cop. The Hollywood Reporter reveals that the female detective has changed her mind and that something "pressing" draws her back to intelligence. In the show's promo, Lindsay appears to have returned to her old job because of Halstead's (Jesse Lee Soffer) kidnapping.

In the clip, the bad guys want "an unarmed female cop" to serve as the go-between them and the police. Lindsay will agree to do the job, but even if she does, things become chaotic. Halstead is seen badly beaten, while Lindsay gets thrown into a glass table.

Bush has hinted that her character and Halstead would be able to patch things up between them. But as she will also be busy dealing with the rest of the team in her return, talks about relationship may have to wait.

"At the end of the day, they're partners. They have a simpatico and they have a connection that is really meaningful. As she's coming back, she's going to have to put in time with each of the people in her unit to prove that she's showing up in the right ways," Bush told The Hollywood Reporter. 

"Chicago P.D." season 3 will air on Wednesday, Sept. 30, at 10 p.m. EST on NBC.
