Marvel finally announced that Spider-Man will join the superheroes of the Marvel's Cinematic Universe, and his first stint just might be in the upcoming installment in the "Captain America" franchise, "Captain America 3: Civil War."

The new development was announced in February, after Sony Pictures Entertainment and Marvel Studios agreed on a deal to bring the new Spider-Man in the next offering of the MCU. Under the deal that was announced via the Marvel official website, the new Spider-Man will be featured in a new Marvel film, then Sony Pictures will be releasing the next film in the "Spider-Man" franchise on July 28, 2017.

The Walt Disney Company Chairman and CEO Bob Iger talked about the new movie collaboration, saying, "Spider-Man is one of Marvel's great characters, beloved around the world. We're thrilled to work with Sony Pictures to bring the iconic web-slinger into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which opens up fantastic new opportunities for storytelling and franchise building."

Now that Sony has finally allowed Spider-Man to swing over to Marvel Studios, it only means that his participation in the Civil War plot of the upcoming "Captain America" installment is the most probable course. It will also be the best venue to make the major transition of introducing Miles Morales, a non-white Spider-Man, by plotting Peter Parker's death in the movie.

The plot for "Captain America 3: Civil War" involves several superheroes who will have a major disagreement with each other. Captain America (Chris Evans) and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) will be embroiled in a big fight when the U.S. government requires all humans with supernatural abilities to register their powers. Tony Stark will reportedly urge his Avenger friends to go through with the government registration, while Steve Rogers will refuse to be controlled by the institution.

Meanwhile, the Chairman and CEO of Sony Pictures Entertainment Michael Lynton mentioned that the studio always wanted to work with the most capable filmmakers to help them develop their characters and expand their franchises.

The Wrap recently broke the story about the possible involvement of "Daredevil" director Drew Goddard in the new "Spider-Man" film reboot for Sony Pictures and Marvel. Although he and the studio have not met yet to talk about the possible deal, several sources claim that he is the studio's first choice to write and direct the film.
