'Bones' season 10 spoilers: finale might change show's direction, tone

Bones season 10 Fox

"Bones" season 10 almost became the final season for the show but it was announced by FOX network last May 8 that the series has been renewed for season 11. That means there are big cliffhangers or clues for the fans to sit through after the season 10 finale, "The End is the End."

The main case that the Jeffersonian team will have to deal with revolves around a copycat killer. Unlike previous cases, this one is related to crimes they've solved before. According to the official synopsis posted by Spoilers Guide, the copycat killer is trying to replicate the same M.O. of Christopher Pelant and may even be his personal protégé.

This will force the team to revisit their old cases in order to find a pattern that could lead them to the copycat and stop him or her before they end up murdering someone else. However, by digging in too closely into the protégé's and into Pelant's history, they might also be drawing the murderer to themselves, endangering everyone on the team.

While the case is ongoing, Angela will have some personal conflicts of her own. The synopsis reveals that she isn't sure about heading all the way to Paris with her husband Hodgins. Being skeptical is a part of their job but this might lead to some tension between the two characters.

Booth and Brennan will have some contemplating to finish as well. After dealing with gambling addictions and other past mistakes, the two will now have to decide if there are other career options outside of the FBI and the Jeffersonian team. If they do make a decision, this might alter how season 11 will play out. "Bones" will be different if the two leads are still around but working on their own or for a different task force.

"Bones" season 10 episode 22, "The End in the End," is scheduled to air on June 11.
