The first episode of the CBS long-running television series "Blue Bloods" season 8 surprised everyone with the unexpected death of Linda (Amy Carlson). As it was only announced that Detective Danny Reagan's (Donnie Wahlberg) wife died in a helicopter crash, the show's alum had not received a proper sendoff.

With that, after more than a month since her character's death, Carlson finally talked about her sentiments about her untimely exit from the police procedural drama. In an interview with Deadline, the 49-year-old star admitted that her departure was poorly handled and she even criticized the network for doing it so.

The "Third Watch" actress admitted that it was her decision to leave the show after seven seasons. However, she revealed that she was not even invited to appear in "Blue Bloods" season 8 episode 1, "Cutting Losses," to properly end Linda's storyline.

"I feel badly [sic] that she dies the way she dies," she said. Just like the CBS' drama's viewers, she was also surprised to learn that her character's future would just end like that. To recall, Linda's death was not even seen on-screen.

Carlson had hoped that CBS gave viewers a chance to see Linda's death in "Blue Bloods" season 8. In fact, there have been a lot of complaints from the show's fans for not seeing her demise. She went on to say that it could have been better if the network let the fans witness Linda's exit. That would have allowed the viewers to grieve and move on from it.

Additionally, Carlson also has something to say to the people who are surprised of Linda's fate. She said that she would proudly explain that it is a standard protocol to have a conversation with an actor who has a contract to appear in the show until its season-ending, instead of just killing the character promptly.

"Blue Bloods" season 8 airs every Friday at 10 p.m. EST on CBS.
