'Batman vs Superman' movie plot spoilers: Wonder Woman fighting Doomsday in trailer?

The trailer of "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" released at the 2015 San Diego Comic-Con was one of the event's main highlights, but new information has surfaced which could shed some light on some of the sequences in the trailer. To be specific, a report now states who Wonder Woman is fighting.

The trailer showcases Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) fighting in a ravaged part of the city — believed to be Gotham — but who she is facing is not shown in the trailer and many believe it to be either Superman (Henry Cavill) or Batman (Ben Affleck). According to Heroic Hollywood, however, Wonder Woman is fighting none other than Doomsday.

Doomsday as seen in the "New 52" DC comics DC Comics

Doomsday has long been rumored to be in the film and the trailer even seems to supports the theory that Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) creates the creature by manipulating General Zod's (Michael Shannon) body.

Although the film's title focuses on the fight between Batman and Superman, it also hints at the formation of the Justice League. The official synopsis even states that there is a new threat in the shadows which may unite Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman at the film's finale and Doomsday may be that "new threat."

In the comic books, Doomsday is responsible for killing Superman, proving to be a formidable opponent that will require Superman to call on the help of Batman and Wonder Woman.

Warner Bros. has not yet confirmed that Doomsday is indeed the main villain in the film, other than Lex Luthor, and fans may have to wait until the movie's March 25, 2016 release in theaters to find out.
