The Caped Crusader may be getting ready for a bachelor party, as the latest issue of the Batman comic book series by Tom King reveals that his marriage proposal was accepted.

In the latest chapter of the new official series, "Batman #32," Batman a.k.a. Bruce Wayne's marriage proposal to Catwoman a.k.a. Selina Kyle was accepted by the femme fatale. This came after an earlier chapter from June ended with a cliffhanger of a marriage proposal.

A lot of fans were left scratching their heads at the notion since most of them have an unwritten rule for Batman — he is not allowed to be happy. This was same rule had been observed in other DC heroes in Batman's universe, until now. Fans also mentioned that what led Bruce Wayne to become Batman was his grief and unhappiness, so a possible happy ending for the Dark Knight might kill his drive.

Still, King assured fans that, "Most superheroes, you make them happy and you end conflict — you give Spider-Man a wife and where do you go from there? But Batman's the opposite: You give him happiness and you create conflict, because he's fundamentally a sad character." This could mean a twist in the engagement of Catwoman and Batman, as a new threat or complication may arise to challenge their happiness.

In the next upcoming issue of the comics, "Batman #33," the Dark Knight will be doing something drastic and illegal, according to King, though the writer was not specific about what he planned to do with the character. He only mentioned that it will shock Batman's colleagues at the Justice League, as well as his children, both adopted and otherwise.

"Batman #33" will be on sale starting Oct. 18.
