Things get darker when the attacker gets attacked in the next episode of "American Horror Story: Hotel," which is airing next Wednesday.

Based on the trailer for the upcoming episode titled "Mommy," Donovan's (Matt Bomer) quest for a new victim backfires when he approaches his potential victim. When he is about to stab the seemingly innocent woman standing next to a stalled vehicle, the woman attacks him first. It turns out that the woman is none other than Ramona Royale (Angela Bassett), one of the Countess's (Lady Gaga) former lover, and she seems to be returning to Hotel Cortez to seek revenge against the hotel's owner.

It also seems like Ramona has taken Donovan with her to an undisclosed location. But the teaser also shows that Donovan is tied to a chair, and a tube is pumping blood out of him. Does it mean that Ramona is also extracting Donovan's blood? But what will she use it for?

The character descriptions for Bassett and Bomer's characters reveal that both of them had been involved with the Countess in the past. But since she broke up with him to be with a male model named Tristan (Finn Wittrock), Donovan will seek help from Ramona to plot take revenge against Lady Gaga's character.

The trailer also shows several flashbacks that involve Donovan and Mr. March (Evan Peters), the former owner of Hotel Cortez. But the conversation between the two seems to have a tone of humor in it as it references the future when Mr. March tells Donovan, "I googled you." Donovan, in turn, replies, saying, "That sounds obscene."

Meanwhile, the official synopsis for "American Horror Story: Hotel" reads:

"Alex is pushed to her breaking point after Scarlett stirs up memories of Holden. Donovan is targeted by a dangerous rival of The Countess."

"American Horror Story Hotel" airs on Wednesday, Oct. 21, on FX.
