3 ways Christians can be a blessing in the workplace

The Lord Jesus calls us the "light of the world." He tells us that in Him we are a people whose real identities bring light and hope to others to the glory of the Father. He told us in Matthew 5:16,

"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven."

One such setting where we are all told to shine is our workplaces. We can be a blessing to our superiors, our colleagues, and the people under us. We can be a blessing to pretty much anyone we come in contact with in relation to our work: clients, bosses, financers, and anyone.

That said, we should all realize the potential we have in bringing God's love to all people. And we should do all that we can to shine brightly to the glory of God.

Specially designed

Many of us think that we can't do anything good aside from what is assigned to us. That's wrong thinking, a poor and defeated mindset that says "I'm not good enough." Friends, God has specifically designed each and every one of us so that we can do good things. Ephesians 2:10 tells us,

"For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them."

Think about that. You were especially designed for the work that was prepared in advance for you to do. All that you need to do is to find out what you were meant to do and do it!

Here are a few ways Christians can be a blessing in the workplace.

1) Be a good coworker

In a world full of negative and self-centered people, wouldn't it be good to have somebody who's genuine and sincerely hopeful about us? Like, a friend who'd rather speak life and be a good teammate in every project?

Choose to be that person. Be a good coworker, someone who chooses to encourage and uplift others rather than discouraging and putting them down.

2) Be an excellent worker

Regardless of your position, and regardless of the amount of money you are paid for your work, choose to work excellently. Choose to walk the extra mile and carry the extra load when needed.

Our excellence at work does not only bless our company or clients. It also helps us gain a better standing among the people we serve.

3) Be a prayerful worker

Don't forget: before you are an employee or an owner in any company, you are a child of God. Pray for yourself so you can work well. Pray for your bosses and your colleagues. Pray for your company to be aligned to the will of God. Better yet, pray for the company people to be saved and for the whole group to follow the Lord.

Nothing blesses any workplace better than God Himself.
