Paramount Pictures is busy working on a shared cinematic universe for their "Transformers" franchise but everything will kick-start with "Transformers 5," which will see the return of actor Mark Wahlberg in the role of Cade Yeager. According to a new report, Michael Bay may also return as director, and with him may come actress Megan Fox.

Bay is currently working on his Benghazi war drama film "13 Hours" but it is speculated that Paramount Pictures will wait for his schedule to free up in order to bring him on as director for a fifth "Transformers" project instead of hiring someone else.

In a report from Collider, Wahlberg stated that he firmly believes Bay would return to direct the film. After all, all of the previous "Transformers" films have been massive financial successes despite the majority of them garnering very low critical and fan reviews. As the saying goes, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

There is also a report from the Gospel Herald that Fox might be returning to the franchise after missing out on the last two films. Fox and Bay exchanged a few harsh words after the release of "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen," up to the point where Fox reportedly likened Bay to World War II dictator Adolf Hitler. Executive Producer Steven Spielberg stepped in and took Fox off the franchise.

Following the incident, Fox and Bay were able to get over their argument and make peace, and many speculate this is why Bay had Fox cast as April O'Neil in 2014's "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles." Now that the two are back to being good friends, the report cites that Bay may bring the actress along for the fifth "Transformers" film.

Not only will this bring the spotlight back on Fox but it will also connect the fourth and fifth films with the first three.

"Transformers 5" has no specific release date at the time of writing but it is slated for 2017.
