'Supernatural' season 12 spoilers: The Men of Letters to run after the Winchesters next season

The CW

Now that their problems with Amara (Emily Swallow) are finally over, the Winchester brothers are expected to face another villain when "Supernatural" returns for season 12.

Before Amara left the Earth to be reunited with her brother Chuck/God (Rob Benedict), she decided to bring back Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean's (Jensen Ackles) mother Mary (Samantha Smith) from the dead. This could have a huge effect on the siblings when the series returns next season.

However, the Winchester matriarch could be the least of the problems of the brothers, since a member of London's Men of Letters named Lady Toni (Elizabeth Blackmore) was tasked to take them into custody after the big destruction that they once again brought to the Earth just to defeat Amara. But before Lady Toni could capture the brothers, Sam lied to her by saying that Dean is already dead. This could mean that the brothers will spend their time running away from the Men of Letters in the upcoming season.

But while The CW is still secretive about their plans for next season, the network already unveiled who will replace showrunner Jeremy Carver after his departure at the end of season 11.

Entertainment Weekly revealed that the show's former executive producer and writer Robert Singer has been promoted as the next showrunner, together with season 4 writer and story editor Andrew Dabb. Both showrunners are expected to provide something different for the show to keep it fresh and exciting.

In other news, The CW president Mark Pedowitz talked about the possibility of creating a spin-off for the show in the future in an interview with Variety. According to Pedowitz, there are no plans to come up with a spin-off at the moment, but they are "open to listening" to any ideas that will be presented to them.

"Supernatural" season 12 is slated to occupy the Thursday slot of The CW this fall.
