Samsung Tab S2 vs. iPad Air 3 specs rumors: Will iPad Air 3 stand a chance against Tab S2?

 Samsung Mobile Press

Samsung and Apple continue to battle it out head to head when it comes to phones and tablets.

When it comes to tablets, Samsung's latest release is in September with the Galaxy Tab S2. Apple's rumored contender is the iPad Air 3, but how do these two gadgets differ and which one offers better specs?

Fortunately for the Tab S2, it's already out and people can attest to its performance. Apple's iPad Air 3, on the other hand, has not been released yet.

The Galaxy Tab S2 comes in two variants — 9.7-inch and 8.0-inch tablets. The Tab S2 is considered as the thinnest of its kind —5.6 millimeters — sold in the market. However, if iPad Air 3's rumored thickness of 5 millimeters is true, then Apple will surpass that title.

For the specs, Tab S2 runs on an Exynos 7 Octa SoC processor and has a 2048 x 1536-pixel Super AMOLED display. Meanwhile, iPad Air 3 is expected to have a 3112 x 2334-pixel Retina display and will be powered by an A9 or A9X chipset and have either 2 GB or 4 GB RAM.

Since "selfies" are somewhat a thing in this generation, camera specs can also be an important factor for choosing a gadget.

Tab S2 doesn't have a front shooter but has an 8-megapixel camera. On the other hand, iPad Air 2 is rumored to have the same rear camera specs but will also come with a 2.1 front cam.

As for pricing, Samsung Tab S2 starts at $400 and goes all the way up depending on size and LTE variants. The iPad Air may have a starting price of $619, as reported in Venture Capital Post.

The news on iPad Air 3 is based on speculations and Apple has yet to make an announcement on whether it plans to release the gadget before the year ends or by early 2016.

If these rumors have truth to it, it will surely be a heavily anticipated device and only time will tell if it can compete well against the Tab S2.
