It looks like "Prison Break" season 5 is going for a breath of fresh air as Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell) is rumored to be at the other end of the reaper's scythe instead of his brother, Michael (Wentworth Miller).

Having learned that his brother is actually alive after all these years, but is being imprisoned in Yemen, Lincoln jumps into action to break him out of there.

"Prison Break" season 5 only has nine episodes,a and the penultimate one might detail Lincoln's fate after all that as it will make fans "weep together," as per the writers of the series.

This was taken to mean that Lincoln will die towards the end of "Prison Break" season 5 while trying to get Michael to safety. This can also be supported by the statement made by executive producer Paul Scheuring a few months back.

"If people start finding out that Michael is still alive, then it puts their larger secret agenda at risk," Scheuring told Entertainment Weekly. "They'll kill anybody that finds out," he went on to tease.

It looks like Lincoln will put himself in the crosshairs of the "Prison Break" season 5 baddies the moment he decided to save Michael from the terrorist organization he got involved in.

Meanwhile, there are also speculations that the tear-jerking moment in the second last episode of "Prison Break" season 5 will not be about Lincoln's death but Michael's reunion to Sara (Sarah Wayne Callies) and the son he never knew.

As Miller stated before, his character's goal is to find his way back to his family, but he is conflicted on revealing himself to his family as Michael thinks that he does not deserve such "happy ending."

"Sara has moved on with her life to the best of her abilities. Michael, in a way, has not. He's been elsewhere for seven years, up to various things," the actor told TV Line.

"The question is when he gets there, will she even recognize him? Is he still the man that she fell in love with? Because he's been up to dark things and has walked some shady road so my question is... Does he deserve that reunion with Sara?" Miller mused.

"Prison Break" season 5 premieres in spring 2017 on FOX.
