'Orange is the New Black' season 4 cast rumors: Britney Spears wanted as guest prisoner

Entertainment Tonight recently got to interview "Orange is the New Black" actress Taryn Manning, who stated that if she could have her way, she would have her "Crossroads" co-star and popular pop singer Britney Spears come in as a guest star on the show.

Spears, while more popular for her music, does have an extensive acting career. She has appeared on "Satruday Night Live," "Will and Grace," "How I Met Your Mother" and is set to make her return to television on "Jane the Virgin."

The singer has also appeared as a judge for "The X Factor" and as herself on reality shows and scripted programs, including "Glee."

Her film "Crossroads" was critically panned but critics did praise Spears' acting capabilities, hinting that the singer can do television and film drama when given the opportunity. This is also pointed out by Manning in the interview.

"Um, I mean, I don't have to make up a character - she's such a good actor that I feel like they could do anything with her," said Manning. "I was so impressed working with her I was like - she's just very sincere in her acting, you know? It's like everyone wanted to maybe hope that she's not gonna be good but she was great."

Manning also defended Spears's singing capabilities. Manning explained that in between shoots for "Crossroads," she asked Spears to sing for her and stated that Spears "sings like an angel."

However, Netflix has not confirmed that Spears would indeed be in the next season of "Orange is the New Black" and neither the writers nor showrunners have yet expressed interest in hiring the singer for a guest appearance.

Given Spears' recent return to TV, however, there is a possibility that she might pop up in "Orange is the New Black" somewhere down the line.

"Orange is the New Black" season 4 premieres in 2016.
