Miguel Cotto vs. Canelo Alvarez fight preview: Freddie Roach focuses on sparring

To date, a lot of people have been focusing on Saúl "Canelo" Alvarez advantage in terms of age and quickness.

But for legendary trainer Freddie Roach, the advantage still lies on experience and he recently gave some insights on what their game plan will be against the explosive Mexican fighter.

Roach has never been at a loss for words when it comes to taking shots at his fighter's opponents, Alvarez included. He has already started with the trash talk, shooting down all the flak surrounding Alvarez' advantage and stands firm that the champion will still reign by the time night is over at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.

Miguel Cotto is undoubtedly oozing with experience and should he choose to engage, such is believed to hand the advantage to Alvarez.

But as far as Roach is concerned, Cotto will go on the offensive but only by the fifth round.

So what does he plan to do with the first five rounds?

Per his revelation, Cotto is working on taking out the legs of Alvarez in the first five rounds before the Puerto Rican heats things up come the sixth. The first five rounds will be all about allegedly giving Alvarez some sound boxing lessons in the preliminary rounds.

If things do pan out according to his forecast, Roach goes on to say that Cotto will be in a good position to knock out Alvarez in the eighth or ninth round.

Of course, this is assuming that Cotto does not get into trouble first in those first five rounds. Alvarez has been known to unload once an opening comes around and assuming that Roach and Cotto are aware of it, their game plan will hopefully include frustrating the Mexican and dictating the tempo.

Cotto and Alvarez mix it up at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas on Nov. 21 with the World Boxing Conference (WBC) middleweight title on the line.
