J.K. Rowling teased fans on Twitter and dropped hints about the Harry Potter spinoff in the form of a new trilogy, "Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them."

Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara has opened up about Rowling's future plans relating to the Harry Potter franchise.

"Jo has a vision for this extension of the franchise, and for the first time, she is writing the script for what she believes is at least a trilogy," Tsujihara said.

With David Yates taking over directorial duties over the last four films of the eight-movie Potter series, he is expected to be signed on to direct the three "Fantastic Beasts" movies as well.

Yates is also expected to reunite with the production team behind the Potter films, comprised of David Heyman, Steve Kloves and Lionel Wigram, among others.

The Potter spinoff will be drawn out from the textbook created for pupils of the fictional school Hogwarts, comprised of 42 pages.  It follows the story of Newt Scamander, a "wizard zoologist" widely popular in the wizarding world for his research and work on magical creatures.  This further extends the magical world that has been incorporated into the Potter series.

Last September, Rowling addressed a message to her fans, saying, "The laws and customs of the hidden magical society will be familiar to anyone who has read the Harry Potter books or seen the films."

She also added, "But Newt's story will start in New York, seventy years before Harry's gets underway."

Speculations have also surfaced that the author's "Quidditch Through the Ages," another set of textbooks used in the Potter series, will also have a movie adaptation.

The first movie has been slotted for a release on Nov. 18, 2016, two days before "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" reaches its 15th year. The next two movies have reportedly been set to premiere in 2018 and 2020.

Harry Potter still tops the list of the most successful movie franchises in history after pulling in $7.7 billion for its international box office earnings.
