'Gotham' season 2 spoilers: Jim and Oswald's friendship is 'over', young Bruce's new love interest

Gotham Fox

When the first season of "Gotham" ended, things weren't looking up for the bond shared by Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and Oswald Cobblepot (Robin Lord Taylor) better known as The Penguin. Not that it was any good at any point though. There was barely a friendship between them.

In "Gotham" season 2, expect whatever these two have to become more problematic. Speaking to Zap2it, Taylor gave an update on the friendship status of his character and Jim, who had the heart to leave him dying in the season 1 finale. For starters, he said it was "over" and "done."

"I think in the first season he really did want to be friends with Gordon. He said that Gordon was one of the two people he trusted in Gotham City, the other being his mother, of course," the actor revealed.

"I think he was deeply hurt by the betrayal Gordon showed him in the finale. He was going to leave him there to die in a hospital handcuffed to a radiator," he added. And though this is the case, Oswald will still hang back and Jim won't be able to get rid of him that easy. "He understands that [Oswald] needs an ally on that side, so it's more tense now," Taylor explained.

Meanwhile, young Bruce Wayne will experience some romance in "Gotham" season 2. "The Goldbergs" star Natalie Alyn Lind was cast to play the role of well-heeled orphan Silver St. Cloud, whose adult version in the comics becomes a love interest to a grownup Bruce Wayne.

Entertainment Weekly describes her as "an ethereal beauty with the pristine manners of a Gotham debutante." Despite this though, she possesses a heart "beating with dark intent," making her an unlikely girlfriend for Bruce. However, Silver will be introducing him to her billionaire philanthropist uncle Theo Galavan, who Bruce will see as a father figure.

"Gotham" season 2 airs September 21.
