'Downton Abbey' season 6 spoilers: Carson-Hughes wedding; Thomas Barrow to have love life?

Downton Abbey PBS

"Downton Abbey" season 6 will be its last and while there have been sparring details regarding the final season's plot, there are two reports that are currently giving fans some hints on what to expect. One is the expected Carson-Hughes wedding, and the other is a possible love interest for Thomas Barrow, played by Robert James-Collier.

Mr. Carson proposed to Mrs. Hughes during the previous season, stating, "Take your time to decide but know that I'm not marrying anyone else."

The response was quite optimistic and now, a report from the Mirror indicates that the production team is indeed shooting the wedding scenes.

According to the report, Laura Carmichael, who plays Lady Edith, has been seen on set wearing what can only be a wedding attire. The actress was wearing a robin's egg blue dress topped with a brown coat and hat. The scenes were being filmed at Burghclere, Hampshire.

The wedding may also bring happiness to more than just Mrs. Hughes. Lady Edith is seen standing next to Bertie Pelham, played by Harry Hadden-Paton, the Brancaster Castle agent first seen in the Christmas Special. It is possible that Bertie Pelham will be Lady Edith's love interest.

Thomas Barrow might also find some love. Actor Robert James-Collier stated in an interview with the IBTimes that he wants Thomas to find some happiness, particularly since this is the final season of the show. The only real difficulty for the butler is the fact that he is gay, an orientation not so warmly welcomed back in the 1920s.

Season 5 saw Thomas seeking treatment. Back in those days, it was believed that homosexuality was a disease but after several episodes, it was revealed that he wouldn't be able to just treat his desire for men away.

No release date has yet been announced for "Downton Abbey" season 6 but it is scheduled to air on PBS by 2016.
