'Dark Souls 3' DLC release date: 'Ashes of Ariandel' to launch Oct. 25 with new maps, monsters, weapons and armor

Dark Souls 3 - Ashes of Ariandel DLC Bandai Namco
"Ashes of Ariandel," the first downloadable content for "Dark Souls III," will be officially released soon. As such, some fans are excited about the new content to be included in this latest game expansion.

According to Ecumenical News, several reports say that the players will now be able to explore the vast, frozen domain of Ariandel. The game's main character will be tasked to explore this land and find out why it was so devastated. The same reports says that its recent trailer showed an enemy with considerable similarities The Painted World's crow demon. With this, it seems that this new DLC will pay some homage to "Dark Souls 1" game's Painted World of Ariamis.

Aside from the new story, the DLC will feature some new weapons, as well as armor sets and magic. These items can give players an edge to the new enemies they will encounter during their gaming experience. Also, this could ensure that the new bosses, which are harder to defeat, will not be overly impossible.

Also, players can now participate in a new player-versus-player system called the Immortal Competition. This will surely test the mettle of their character once they start fighting against other players in the game.

The upcoming "Ashes of Ariandel" DLC will be the first expansion to be released for "Dark Souls III." As of now, there are still no official announcement for the second DLC pack. However, the only thing confirmed right now is that this second DLC will be the final content to be ever released for the entire "Dark Souls" game titles.

NeoGAF reports that Hidetaka Miyazaki, the "Dark Souls" director, said that in his personal opinion, this game is finally over. He wants to move on to make another project and that the development of a new IP has already started.

"Ashes of Ariandel" will be released on Oct. 25 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC platforms.
