Back in January, there was an article here on Christian Today about retirement issues tied up with Goldust (better known in real life as Dustin Rhodes). Though the rumors were shot down via Twitter, the word around is that the initial plans will materialize after all.
Initially it was reported that Goldust would turn against his brother Cody Rhodes, otherwise known as Stardust, and so it did in the February 17 issue of WWE RAW. And now the two are set to face off at WWE Fastlane where the feud could carry on until Wrestlemania 31.
And with the stage set, the initial rumors are once again getting hotter. There is a huge possibility that Goldust will retire once Wrestlemania 31 comes around. Though it has yet to be confirmed, such should be a fitting farewell to the bizarre one who has had his fair share of success as a champion in the WWE.
Already 45 years old, there is no doubt that Goldust can still compete with younger wrestlers. But with Golddust at the prime of his career, chances are he would be better off quitting at his own terms and on a high note.
Another thing that is pointing to a potential retirement stage of Dustin Rhodes is the fact that he had always wanted to compete (again) with his brother Cody. With the turn of events, it seems that this is the direction that the WWE is heading to.
Should he really retire, Goldust is still expected to be around the WWE scene. He could either be an agent or a backstage producer, a reward for his loyalty and hard work for the WWE.
As far as wrestling in the ring is concerned, we could see Goldust make occasional appearances (or matches) such as the ones being done by WWE/WWF legends. So if it materializes, it would simply mean seeing Goldust lesser in the ring but not the WWE.
