Bestselling author of the highly acclaimed "A Song of Ice and Fire" series George R.R. Martin recently announced that there will not yet be an official release date for the series's sixth novel, "Winds of Winter."
The award-winning novelist recently said at a writer's conference in London that there will be more deaths coming for the books' characters.
"The way my books are structured, everyone was together," Martin said to the attendees, "then they all went their separate ways and the story deltas out like that, and now it's getting to the point where the story is beginning to delta back in, and the viewpoint characters are occasionally meeting up with each other now and being in the same point at the same time, which gives me a lot more flexibility for killing people."
Martin also expressed similar sentiments with regards to the sixth book of his seven-novel fantasy epic as he talked to Digital Spy.
"I have days where I make lots of progress, I have days where I make next to no progress, I have days where I think I'm going backwards because I don't like what I wrote yesterday," Martin said. "So I've given up making any predictions on that. I'm just writing it and when it's done, it'll be done."
As such, fans will still have to wait on upcoming announcements for an official "Winds of Winter" release date.
One of the main stars of HBO's "Game of Thrones," the TV adaption of Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire," revealed details about the upcoming fifth season of the fantasy drama series. Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark, recently told Vulture that they have been progressing through the filming of season five in Belfast, as reported by HNGN.
"We're already midway through the whole of the fifth season! We're nearly halfway through," Turner said. "It's a six-month shoot, so it's not exactly luxurious."
While "Game of Thrones" season five has been slotted for a premiere in spring 2015, no official release dates have been announced.
