'Vikings' season 5 spoilers, plot rumors, news: Lagertha's fate, Ragnar's successor

Will Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) finally see the end of his reign in Kattegat this Nov. 30? Facebook/Vikings

History Channel's drama, "Vikings" isn't due for its season 4 resumption until the end of this month, but fans of the series are already anticipating a lot of big changes come the fifth season, which by the way is already confirmed for 20 episodes.

To recall, the first half of season 4 ended with Viking king Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) disappearing and only to return to Kattegat as a man who everyone despises. His sons want his throne but he wouldn't hand it conveniently without a fight, setting what could be a bloody ending to the season.

Based on recent rumors, it is likely that Ivar the Boneless (Alex Høgh Andersen), the fourth son of Ragnar, will be getting the throne from his father, although it won't sit well with several other people who have some vested interest and concerns on who should be king in one way or another.

Meanwhile, another report claimed that season 5 of "Vikings" will also decide the fate of Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick), whom everyone knows was badly injured during the siege in Paris. Although she is thought to have survived her wounds, fans of the show pointed out why she was not part of the flash-forward scenes, fueling rumors that she might no longer be part of the fifth season. Does it mean she'll die in the second part of the fourth season?

There really is a lot of expect from "Vikings" in its fifth season, especially since Kattegat is in for some big changes with Ragnar's downfall and demise. However, his competition with Rollo (Clive Standen) may reach new heights owing to Rollo's victory in Paris.

The second part of "Vikings" season 4 premieres on Nov. 30 while season 5 is scheduled for a 2017 debut.
