With actress Nina Dobrev's departure from "The Vampire Diaries," the fate of her character, Elena, is pretty much mapped out as leaving Mystic Falls for good. However, it remains a mystery just how things will culminate to her exit, but the upcoming episode for the series titled "I'd Leave My Happy Home" will give a clear idea of how it will go down.
Elena has been increasingly feeling down in the dumps in the recent episodes of the supernatural drama series, with her subjection to a life without the ability to create a family of her own. Vampirism has the tendency to rid those with it of such pleasure.
But despite that, Damon guarantees that with the cure, the future she dreams of is within reach. He decides that he will take it as well to live that future with his true love.
While Damon seems to be resolute with the idea, his brother Stefan is not at all for it. He thinks that this will get his brother in grave trouble, but fans know he is the last person Damon will listen to when it comes to this.
Elena has her doubts, too. She decides to approach Bonnie for advice but gets discouragement from the witch instead as she brings up the possibility that she may not love a human Damon.
The promo for the episode shows Elena's doubts escalating, and it looks like she drinks every drop of the potion to keep Damon from going through the troubles that being a human will bring about. By the end of the footage, the two convince themselves to jump off a building, with Elena saying, "You only live once."
It is still unknown how "The Vampire Diaries" will lead Elena out of Mystic Falls, but her departure is looming.
Season 6 episode 20 will air on April 30.
