Although months have passed since the controversial suicide tweet that Bethe Corriea threw at Ronda Rousey's way, the reigning Universal Fighting Championship (UFC) Women's Bantamweight champion's stance remains the same.
Angered and insulted, Rousey seems to be bent on handing Correia a beating when the two clash at UFC 190 at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Aug. 1.
To recall, both fighters got it on with the usual trash talk that is normal on Twitter but Correia went a bit overboard when she tackled a suicide topic. Rousey lost her father to suicide at a very young age and the champ was pretty much close to her dad before that unfortunate chapter in her life.
Correia claims she was unaware of that episode of Rousey's life and later on apologized. But according to Rousey, it was more of redeeming herself than sincerely apologizing after that incident and thus gives her more motivation to hand Correia a different kind of beating when they face off at UFC 190.
With that said, Rousey is likely to stick to her word of punishing Correia, although it will not be quickly. She intends to abandon her usual habit of disposing her opponents fast and teach Correia a lesson. Rousey explains more about it on the video, which you can view below.
In previous posts, we did have a glimpse of how Rousey was preparing for the said match. Despite being seemingly busy as well in the Hollywood world, the UFC womens champion seems to be making sure that she remains sharp heading into the UFC 190 event.
Correia does hold a 9-0 record and gained notice when she disposed of Rousey teammates, Jessamyn Duke and Shayna Baszier. She has been constantly calling out Rousey and apparently, the reigning champ has obliged to the Pitbull's rants.
Rousey and Correia get it on Aug. 1 at UFC 190. The match will be held in Rio de Janeiro where Correia will also have homecourt advantage. Could this be a problem for Rousey?
