"The Walking Dead" is known for its gore and gruesome scenes, particularly when characters are killed off by the zombies or even by violent humans. Fans have accepted that the cast of the show may have gotten used to this by now, but according to a report from Entertainment Weekly, this is not the case.
Simply reading the script was sickening for some of the cast members. Andrew Lincoln, who plays lead character Rick Grimes, explained that after reading the script for the rest of season 6, he had trouble sleeping. Lincoln states this was the first time throughout his time with "The Walking Dead" that he ever felt this way with the events on the show.
"I felt sick to my stomach when I read the script," Lincoln said.
If reading the script was already a nightmare experience, this gets even worse when filming the actual scenes. Actress Lauren Cohan, who plays Maggie in the series, first explained that merely hearing the word "finale" gives her a physical reaction of disgust or disturbance as it was, as she states, the most difficult day for them to shoot.
"I never even imagined that as an actor you could have that experience," Cohan explained. "It's one of the most raw experiences that I think any of us have ever had. Andy talks about being late to work; I didn't want to go to work that day. It took a really, really long time for everybody to feel okay again after the finale, let's put it that way."
It is noted in a report from Cinema Blend that filming for season 6 concluded some time ago, therefore the cast already know the general direction the series is going. Fans speculate that this new direction will include the death of Glenn (Steven Yeun) and the upcoming war with Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and his band of Saviours.
"The Walking Dead" season 6B premieres this Feb. 14.
