Last week on "The Vampire Diaries," Damon (Ian Somerhalder) continued to be tormented by hallucinations after being trapped in the Hell Stone. Desperate to make sense of it all, Damon called Tyler, who's back in town for the twins' baby shower and asked him to allow him to see Elena (Nina Dobrev), who is currently in an enchanted sleep.

Damon pulled Elena's coffin out of the container and opened it, only to find Henry inside. Tyler tried to stop him, but Damon was quicker and the vampire put Tyler to sleep. Damon started pouring gasoline on Henry and setting him on fire, only to have Henry appear behind him, and Damon realized that it really was Elena in the coffin and that he just burned the body of the woman he loves.

Later, Stefan (Paul Wesley) found Damon staring into the fireplace at the Lockwood mansion, and when he asked him where he has been, Damon said that he has been dealing with his demons. Instead of confessing to what he did, he proposed that they get some more bourbon as Damon wanted to do nothing more than to drown his sorrows.

This week, Stefan becomes concerned when his brother starts getting more reckless and he tries to reason with Damon, only to learn the devastating reason for his brother's behavior.

In the promo for the episode "Postcards from the Edge," Damon is seen flicking open a lighter and throwing it into Elena's coffin, and upon realizing what he did, he starts drinking more and picking fights with people. Damon is then led into a fight club, and Stefan warns him not to get into the ring. But Damon ignores his brother and is seen fighting different men.

"What did you do?" Stefan demands.

"I killed Elena," Damon whispers, and Stefan throws a punch at him.

"The Vampire Diaries" airs Fridays at 8/7c on The CW.
