'The Last Ship' season 3 spoilers: Season to premiere June 12

Fans have been eager to learn the fate of the character Rachel in the third season of "The Last Ship" ever since the cliffhanger from the last episode of the previous season. According to TVLine, the resolution to her fate will be seen by eager viewers about a minute and a half into the season premiere. This character is vital to the continuing safety and wellness of the crew, so fans are fervently hoping that she manages to survive.

CarterMatt notes that even with her survival, other members of the cast might not be so lucky, as this series is notorious for keeping fans on their toes in regards to the safety of its characters. The crew is "currently heading to uncharted waters," and thus anything could be possible at this point, especially with President Michener leading the government with the nation's rehabilitation. He is also necessary to this story, as he is supposed to take on the role of the leader who will rebuild the entire nation from scratch. So far, the virus has already mutated and Japan is on red alert, which adds more pressing reasons why keeping the scientist and the president alive is important.

According to a report by Ecumenical News, the main producer Hank Steinberg said in an interview last September that there are still many things for the survivors to accomplish. Finding the cure is only the first step, and actually distributing it will also be another hurdle to overcome. Season 3 is very much a continuation of a work in progress for the whole cast, and fans are to expect new personal complications, enemies, issues and ideals for Chandler and his team of survivors. The new promo also offers information on what types of hurdles these might be -- Chandler learning about the guerrilla team clashing with his team, XO Mike Slattery being held hostage with five other people, and Chandler heading to Asia with his men to save the rest of his team.
