The first season of Peter Morgan's historical biopic dubbed as "The Crown" was released on Netflix earlier this month. Viewers immediately got hooked due to the performance of the actors and the well-detailed setting. With that said, the growing number of fans who are craving for more are now wondering as to when the second serving of the show will be dished out.

Per the recent reports, the sophomore season has already been commissioned by Netflix which has made fans elated. During the recent round of press interviews, it was also revealed that the cast and crew are already working on the upcoming season.

The main protagonists, Claire Foy, who portrays Queen Elizabeth II during her younger years, and Matt Smith, who assumes the role of the queen's other half, Prince Phillip, said that they are currently in rehearsals as they reprise their respective roles for the second installment.

However, both actors also stressed that their roles as the royal couple's younger version won't last forever and they will soon be replaced in the show's future seasons. That being said, according to The Telegraph, the show is to run for six seasons with 10 episodes each.

Moreover, it is rumored that Foy and Smith will be replaced by Helen Mirren and James Cromwell by the time the show reaches its third season. On the other hand, it is also speculated that Foy and Smith might still be tapped beyond season 2 as the actors might be outfitted with prosthetics that would make them look decades beyond their actual ages.

As of late, Netflix has yet to comment on the release window for "The Crown" season 2. In the meantime, binge-watchers might want to check out season 1 of the web series which is now available on Netflix.
