The dust will finally settle for the characters of "The Affair" in the extended finale of season 2.

Based on the trailer for the season 2 finale released on Sunday, Noah (Dominic West) finally confessed that he wants to make a choice and be happy with it. He also admits that he hurt the people that he really loves.

It seems like Noah is contemplating to continue his life with Alison (Ruth Wilson), or return to his wife Helen (Maura Tierney). During the one-on-one talk, Helen asks Noah if he wants to go back to their home.

Meanwhile, Alison is also heard ranting to Cole (Joshua Jackson) about how keeping secrets from a loved one is starting to take a toll on her. But during an event, Cole tells her that she should not ruin a special night for him.

The teaser also shows a courthouse scene where Alison looks shocked when the judge releases a decision.

According to a recent interview with actress Julia Goldani Telles, the culprit who killed her character Whitney's lover Scotty (Colin Donnell) will be finally put behind bars. "Somebody's going to be found guilty," the actress told the New York Post.

Telles also weighed down on the possible vindication of Whitney's dad Noah in Scotty's murder. "I don't know if I call it redemption, but you will empathize more with him at the end of the season," the actress said.

The season finale of "The Affair" is scheduled to air Sunday, Dec. 20.

Meanwhile, Showtime revealed that "The Affair" has been renewed for season 3, alongside the renewal of "Homeland" for season 6. Both shows are known as two of the highest-rated drama series on the cable network.

While the official release date of "The Affair" season 3 is yet to be announced, Movie News Guide said that all of the main cast of the show will reprise their roles in the upcoming installment of the series.
