'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2' news: Director Dave Green discusses Technodrome and new characters

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows - the four turtles fighting against Krang Paramount Pictures

"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows" will serve as a sequel to the 2014 film but will be introducing several elements that many fans clamored for in the original film. Speaking to Collider, director Dave Green and producer Brad Fuller gave insight into what they've added and altered for the second film.

Fuller explained that while the first film focused on introducing the four turtles through the perspective of reporter April O'Neil (Megan Fox), the second film focuses on the turtles' relationship with each other. This hints that there will be more sequences of the turtles interacting with each other, allowing each turtle's personality to shine through.

The producer also explained that elements missing from the first film such as the Technodrome, Krang, Casey Jones, Baxter Stockman, Bebop and Rocksteady will be appearing in the film and they have been showcased in the recent trailers. Fuller explained that they took time to listen to what fans wanted and then worked on implementing elements and characters that would fit into the story they were trying to tell.

As shown so far in the trailers, Shredder (Brian Tee) will be able to break out of prison and will encounter new allies that will aid in his plans to take over the world. As the turtles deal with Shredder and the Foot Clan, the alien Krang will arrive with the same evil intent, using his massive Technodrome facility to achieve this goal.

Green did give a little teaser, hinting that many of these elements will come into play during one of the action set pieces set in Brazil. According to the duo, the action sequences in the film are some of its main highlights and are bigger in scale than anything they've done thus far.

In regards to 3D, the director explained that the film was not shot with 3D technology dictating what kind of shots or angles they would utilize in order to avoid making gimmicky sequences, instead simply focusing on old-school filmmaking techniques that focuses on telling a good story first.

"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows" will be released in theaters this June 3.
