'Switched at Birth' season 5 spoilers: unexpected pregnancy; Bay, Emmet to get back together?

Switched at Birth ABC

The second half of "Switched at Birth" season 4, now dubbed as the fifth season of the series, will introduce an unexpected pregnancy that is guaranteed to shake the very foundations of the show and its characters.

"We hear that the ABC Family show is about to tackle pregnancy in a way that's going to have fans talking. You thought the rape storyline was powerful? You haven't seen anything yet," explained actress Vanessa Nicole Marano, who plays Bay, during a podcast interview with Hollywood Life.

According to Vinereport, there is a high chance that Bay is the one who will get pregnant, especially after the incident she had with Tank, or perhaps an intimate moment with Emmet. Now that she and Emmet have broken up, suddenly dealing with pregnancy might be the worst thing to happen to Bay in her current unlucky streak.

Emmet broke up with Bay despite her flying all the way to Los Angeles to save their relationship, stating that he wanted to focus solely on his studies. Vinereport points out that if Bay is indeed pregnant, then Emmet might come back to take care of her, whether or not he is the father and whether or not Bay chooses to keep the child.

Series creator Lizzy Weiss also posted via Twitter that "It's not over 'til it's over," indicating that the relationship between Emmet and Bay will continue until the showrunners confirm outright that they are done for and that Bay will have to move on with her love life.

On the other hand, the report also points out that Daphne could be the one dealing with the pregnancy, especially now that she shared a few intimate moments during the season 4 finale. After dealing with a D in chemistry, her burdens are only going to get much heavier if she finds out she's pregnant.

"Switched at Birth" season 5 premieres with its first episode, "To Repel Ghosts," this Aug. 24.
