The San Francisco 49ers lost a handful of players this offseason and according to ESPN Stats & Information, the mass departure left the team losing 37 percent of their snaps (leads NFL) last season.

Right tackle Anthony Davis, defensive lineman Justin Smith, safety Bubba Ventrone with linebackers Patrick Willis, and Chris Borland already left the 49ers as they retired from the game.

Meanwhile the players who left due to free agency are cornerbacks Chris Culliver and Perrish Cox, receiver Michael Crabtree, running back Frank Gore, left guard Mike Lupati, and linebacker Dan Skuta.

The 49ers also traded punter Andy Lee to the Cleveland Browns last month for a 2017 draft pick.

ESPN added in the report that there are only seven of 22 players remaining from the 49ers team that played in Super Bowl XLVII but lost to the Baltimore Ravens.

These players are quarterback Colin Kaepernick, guard Alex Boone, tight end Vernon Davis, left tackle Joey Staley, and linebackers Ahmad Brooks, NaVorro Bowman, and Aldon Smith.

There are also changes in the coaching department with the most significant being Jim Tomsula replacing Jim Harbaugh as head coach.

San Francisco finished last season with an 8-8 record and missed the NFL playoffs for the first time in four years.

In the 2013 season, they reached as far as the conference championship but lost to the Seattle Seahawks who eventually won Super Bowl XLVIII.

Now with the pieces that remain, a number of new signings, plus changes in the coaching staff, the 49ers will try to reach the playoffs next season .

Included in their preparation is an open-to-the-public training camp at their home field Levi's Stadium on Aug. 9 and 10,000 randomly selected fans who will go through the online registration to secure tickets will be given the chance to watch the training session that will start at noon to 4 p.m. PST, ESPN reported.
