According to a report from Android Authority, U.K. owners of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge are receiving a new update. This update appears to be the same update that just recently launched for the U.S. and China, although it now sports a newer build number, hinting at even more improvements.
The new firmware is available for both carrier-branded and unlocked versions of the phones and can already be downloaded. According to the report, the main features of the new update include "shape correction for skewed photos." Users simply need to access the new toggle found in the camera's settings.
Stability improvements are also included such as better palm touch rejection. The additional security patches from the April update have been included and the new firmware allows users to access Wi-Fi calling via EE.
While the update is usually automatically downloaded, users can opt to download it manually simply by heading to the Settings menu and then accessing the "About Phone" options and then choosing the toggle to download updates manually. U.K. users fill find the S7 update titled "G930FXXU1APD3" while S7 Edge users will need to get update build number "G935FXXU1APD3."
Several unidentified bug patches and glitch fixes have also been introduced with the new update, although it is not indicated what issues they address. It is speculated they address several lag issues when accessing apps and make the phone function even faster.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge have been praised for addressing issues that the S6 and S6 Edge failed to fix as well as bringing back features from the S5 that the S6 dropped. To date, the S7 and S7 Edge are regarded as the best of Samsung's top-tier smartphones, although competition will draw when the new Sony Xperia Z6 and Apple iPhone 7 are released later this year.
