Sacramento Kings NBA 2015 news: John Calipari no deal

The fiasco surrounding the Sacramento Kings organization continues after the team reportedly tried to hire Kentucky coach John Calipari to replace recently hired coach George Karl.

Calipari, 56, had a great year with the Wildcats, leading them to a 38-1 NCAA campaign. But Kentucky bowed out of the Final Far after losing to Wisconsin.

The Kentucky coach has been linked to reports about him leaving the collegiate ranks for the NBA a number of times before, but he has denied these reports, saying he was happy where he was.

Through Twitter, Calipari denied the rumors that he would be joining the Kings and said he would stay with Kentucky.

"For the 100th time, I have the best basketball coaching position in the world. I am not looking for any other coaching position," Calipari first tweeted.

He again tweeted regarding the issue and said, "At no time has @Vivek offered me a job. I WILL BE AT KENTUCKY."

Vlade Divac, Kings vice president for basketball and franchise operations, said he was the one in-charge of matters like this, and has not even spoken to Calipari regarding a position with the team.

Divac told ESPN's Marc Stein that a report regarding the Kings' interest in having Calipari as head coach was not true.

"The only person in our organization who [handles] something like this is me, and I've had zero conversations with John Calipari. We have a coach here," Divac said.

Kings owner Vivek Ranadive reportedly wanted to dismiss Karl after hiring him last February because the coach wanted to trade the face of the franchise, All-Star center DeMarcus Cousins.

Cousins has been linked to a number of trade deals this offseason, and Ranadive didn't like what was happening. He earlier insisted that he would not let go of Cousins.
