Developer Rockstar Games keeps mum about "Red Dead Redemption 2," but reports continue to emerge about its release date.

According to the latest speculations, the long-awaited sequel will be released during the first quarter of 2017. There are no details to corroborate this, though.

However, previous leaks and reports suggest that "Red Dead Redemption 2" might actually be ready for show and that Rockstar is just looking for the right moment to unveil it.

After all, there were expectations that the highly-anticipated title will be revealed at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) back in June.

This was because of Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Rockstar's parent company Take-Two Interactive, who teased that they will be part of the event in a "big way."

This had many believe that "Read Dead Redemption 2" will be made official. However, this was not the case. Zelnick also teased that Rockstar is working on new games to be unveiled "soon."

One of these games was believed to be the "Red Dead Redemption" sequel, but it is unclear when the announcement will take place.

However, despite the lack of updates, fans can count on Rockstar releasing "Red Dead Redemption 2." For years now, the developer and Take-Two have been teasing it.

Rockstar also always pointed out how big games such as "Red Dead" take a while to put together. Back in 2012 during its Ask and Answered blog, the studio said that they are also "excited for more epic Western action."

"We don't always rush to make sequels but that does not mean that we won't get back to them eventually," Rockstar explained. "Stay tuned for further announcements about the future of the Red Dead series," they added.

That being said, it looks like fans will have to be patient to see what Rockstar has in store for the beloved Western game.
