'Ray Donovan' season 3 news: trailer released, Stephanie Erb joins cast

Ray Donovan Showtime

The first trailer for "Ray Donovan" season 3 has just been launched online. It features a creepy rendition of "California Dreamin'" and promises that the next season is going to be a "great adventure." Fans will not be disappointed in their first glimpse of the next season because the trailer also has a lot of violence and a lot of blood.

The trailer opens with Elliott Gould's character Ezra Goodman telling a young Ray, "Tip the country on its side, and everything that falls loose, lands in L.A."

It is possible that these flashbacks will be interspersed throughout the third season, and will finally tell of Ray's earliest years as he rose up the ranks in his home.

Ray Donovan (Liev Schreiber) then juxtaposes the opening lines by stating he is done doing the same thing for over 25 years. He explains that he is done taking orders and that he is tired of "fixing things for people who don't deserve it."

All of this enforces what fans have been speculating ever since the season 2 finale — that Ray will be taking things into his own hands now and wouldn't work for anyone else anymore. There is even a scene in the trailer where he states, "I'm not for sale," further implying that he is going solo this time around.

With a change in career direction comes new allies and foes. According to a report from Enstarz, actress Stephanie Erb is joining the cast of "Ray Donovan" in a recurring role although there have been no official details regarding who she is portraying. The report did confirm she will be in for three episodes.

Erb will be another welcome addition to the new cast members which include Katie Holmes, Aaron Staton, and Ian McShane. Jack Wagner and Cheryl Ladd will also be joining as guest stars.

"Ray Donovan" season 3 will premiere this June 12.
