"Dilemma" singer Nelly denounced on Twitter the recent accusation against him by a still unidentified woman. This after he was taken into custody by police and was released shortly after.
In a tweet, Nelly decried the accusation thrown at him, saying that such is "false" and that he is "completely innocent." The rapper said that he is the real victim in this hullabaloo. He also expressed his gratitude to his fans for their support in a separate tweet. "And I assure you, I will pursue every legal option to address this defaming claim," said Nelly.
The rapper was arrested on Saturday after an unnamed woman claimed that Nelly raped her. According to the police report, a woman called 911 at 3:48 am and said she was sexually assaulted by the rapper on a tour bus. Hours before this, Nelly, or Cornell Haynes Jr. in real life, had a performance at the White River Amphitheater in King County, Washington. He was arrested at 4:37 am and was shortly released after no charges were filed. The rapper is still up for investigation for second degree rape.
The woman, according to TMZ, is 21 years old and hails from Seattle. She claims that she and her friends were drinking at Nelly's table at a club, and that she got invited to an after-party. According to the accuser, she was forced to have unprotected sex with Nelly and was thrown off the bus shortly after refusing to accept the money offered by the "Ride Wit Me" singer.
Scott Rosenblum, Nelly's lawyer, told the Daily News in a statement that the woman is "making a dangerous, fraudulent allegation to accomplish her own goals." He also disclosed that their investigator will provide evidence to prove that she has no credibility.
