Nokia 9 release date, specs leaks hint at curved display, iris scanner

Nokia has taken a long hiatus from the technology scene. Its latest comeback, Nokia 8, is packed with specifications that can compete with leading brands nowadays. That is why speculations have been emerging on the release of Nokia 9.

A latest render of the Nokia 9 has been making rounds in forums lately. This has gotten attraction from consumers as the smartphone amazes with its curved display, a feature popularized by South Korean tech brand Samsung. Based on the latest photo, it seems that the Nokia 9 armed enough to compete in the market, since other leading competitors have been constantly upgrading their products in terms of design and specifications.

Some are expecting that Nokia 9 will be released by yearend, and that it will be pricey, as the newly released Nokia 8 came out on the expensive side. The render showed a glass back with a fingerprint scanner. Noticeable about the latest render is the smartphone's seemingly bezel-less design. This report also hints at the smartphone to be IP68 certified. With this, expect a dust proof and water-resistant Nokia 9 for up to 30 minutes in depth of up to 1.5 meters.

Another leak hinted at this flagship smartphone to have an iris scanner, 5.5" QHD OLED display, 12-megapixel front camera, and 3800 mAh battery. It is seen to have a 22-megapixel Carl-Zeiss dual rear camera as well. It is also expected to have a 6/8 GB random access memory and run on Android 7.1.2 Nougat. It will be powered by chipset Snapdragon 835.

The speculated size of the smartphone is not so much of a difference from that of Nokia 8, which is 5.3." It will be available in 64 or 128 GB. Aside from this, Nokia 9 is expected to be a fast charging phone as it is equipped with Qualcomm Quick Charge 4. As for the price, an earlier report stated that this smartphone will be priced at around 749 euros or $699.
