"No Man's Sky" was all set to be released by Aug. 9 on both platforms. However, Hello Games, the game developer, moved the release date of its PC version to Aug. 12, and nobody really knows why.
The developer previously announced that the much-awaited game will arrive on the PlayStation 4 and Windows PC on the same date, while Europe will have it the following day. Now, the release date for the PC has been moved by three days, but the console version remains the same.
"No Man's Sky is a game about exploration and survival in an infinite and procedurally generated galaxy, coming to PS4 on August 9th in North America and August 10th in Europe, and on PC worldwide on August 12th," according to the company's website.
Fans were puzzled and surprised by the delay. Hello Games did not elaborate on the reason behind the delay, except that they are making the game better, according to game director, Sean Murray.
Murray said, "Every day, the game is getting better and better, and despite all the late nights (and early mornings) we're all working to get it finished and in your hands, it's amazing to see it all coming together."
Meanwhile, GameSpot previously reported that the upcoming space exploration game will be featuring a level tree menu system that looks similar to another top-notch game, "Destiny." Upon closer inspection and comparison of the menu of both games, they have almost the same UI design, which includes the transparent cursor and layout.
It is not sure yet if "No Man's Sky" was inspired by "Destiny," but Murray played Bungie's game once, the publication added.
"No Man's Sky" will be available for the PlayStation 4 and Windows PC, where players will be able to explore, survive, do combat and trade with other players. It is an open universe where there are over 18 quintillion planets to explore.
The game is available for pre-order for US$59.99.
