'Mass Effect: Andromeda' playtest hints at Bioware's new IP

Mass Effect: Andromeda BioWare

Despite the departure of game director Chris Wynn, development on "Mass Effect: Andromeda" is still going forward, and most recently Bioware Edmonton developer Cameron Lee, who is not part of the team working on the game, playtested the title for roughly an hour.

However, as posted in a report from Gamespot. Lee almost gave away a little too much information.

Answering questions via Twitter, Lee explained that since he was not part of the development team working on "Mass Effect: Andromeda" he could not properly tell just how far along the game is in its development and he almost posted a photo of the game's executable, which would have given away the game's original working title.

He also did not reveal how long the game's prologue was but he did manage to state the game "was fun and I got to shoot things in the face."

Lee also mentioned that he was distracted by all the work around him regarding Bioware's new IP, proving Lee is a part of the team working on a brand new game series that is not a part of either "Mass Effect" or "Dragon Age." At the time being nothing is known regarding the new game, although Lee's statements indicate it might have branched off from either of the two aforementioned series.

Very little is known about "Mass Effect: Andromeda" despite two trailers already launching. The game is reportedly set long after the events of the original "Mass Effect" trilogy and the second trailer even has Commander Shepard sending the new characters off to their new journey, which is set in the Andromeda Galaxy.

The game will also feature the return of the Mako, a smaller vehicle for planetary exploration seen back in the first "Mass Effect" game.

"Mass Effect: Andromeda" is set to release in Fall 2016 for the PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
