MacBook Pro 2016 release: Leaks of MacBook Pro images shot down

 Apple website

Apple shot down rumours after a leaked image showed the upcoming MacBook Pro 2016 version, signalling a false alarm.

In a statement given to Tech Insider, an Apple representative told the website that the MacBook in the background of a feature video on the company was nothing more than a 2012 version of the MacBook pro. The device was earlier thought to be the upcoming MacBook Pro 2016.

The device in question was spotted in a video feature on CBS' "60 Minutes" giving Apple fans a first-ever look inside Jony Ive's design studio. The device was spotted behind Apple's general counsel Bruce Sewell, and was questioned because of the background image on the 15-inch MacBook Pro's screen- the Saturn wallpaper that was first released on the iPad Pro.

The shot also made the MacBook in the background look more sleek than the existing models, which further caused the belief that the device in the video was something that had not yet been launched. But those rumours have been shot down as Apple claims that it was just an already existing MacBook Pro model with a customised background.

It is believed that Apple will be unveiling updated designs for the 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pro in the upcoming WWDC in June 2016. Rumours indicate that the new versions of the MacBook will have TouchID and Force Touch on the track pads, as well as a Skylake processor with more powerful RAM. It is also believed that the Cupertino-based company is working on better battery life for the device.

The Bit Bag, however, believes that the launch of the latest MacBook Pro versions will be coming much earlier than that, pegging it at the first quarter of this year.

The new generations of MacBook Pros will still be arriving in a 13-inch and 15-inch model with much thinner profiles and possibly lighter weights.
