iPad Pro 2 release date, specs rumors: three variants to be unveiled

2016 is about to end without the Apple iPad Pro 2 in sight, although there is widespread belief that the device is indeed coming very soon. With a lot of anticipation for it, it's no longer a new thing to hear and read so much about it online, but most of them are rumors and theories about the tablet's possible additions and improvements that weren't present in the iPad Pro.

One of the biggest changes expected for the iPad Pro 2 is the three-variant lineup. As first reported by a Japanese blog called Macotakara, the upcoming professional tablet will be offered in three different models, which essentially only differ in the sizes of their screens. The report said that the smallest will come with a 7.9-inch screen, while its two bigger siblings will have 10.1 inches and 12.9 inches of screen, respectively.

Furthermore, the largest of the three is projected to be the top-of-the-line variant, which according to rumors, will be equipped with a True Tone and wide color display, along with light sensors which are designed to give the device the ability to automatically adapt to the color intensity of the display. Accordingly, this new technology is intended to make the 12.9-inch iPad Pro 2 capable of matching the lighting ambiance of its environment.

While there is hope that the upcoming device will be ditching the traditional headphone jack, there seems to be a consensus from tech observers that AirPods will be introduced side-by-side with quad microphones, although this remains as an unsubstantiated report for the moment. Also, the tablet is set to be powered by Apple's latest A10x processor coupled with at least 3 GB of random access memory, although it could be even more than that.

Finally, it's safe to assume that once the iPad Pro 2 is released next year, it will be coming with Apple's iOS 11 right out of the box, considering that Apple is projected to have already released the updated version of its mobile operating system early next year.
