iOS 9.1 jailbreak in the works by PanGu

PanGu Team has successfully been able to jailbreak iOS 9.0 to 9.0.2 but are still currently working to jailbreak iOS 9.1, reports Value Walk. However, despite the lack of a jailbreak for 9.1, the emojis from the latter update can still be acquired for devices running on a jailbroken iOS 9.

Obtaining the emojis the regular way would nullify the jailbreak, which is why consumers who want to keep their devices jailbroken should not yet update to iOS 9.1. Instead, in order to get the emojis from the later update, they are required to install a "tweak" known as "Emoji83+."

The tweak, developed by PoomSmart, allows iOS 9 to 9.0.2 users to install the emojis and have them running on their device's keyboards without necessarily updating their whole OS to 9.1. However, as stated by a report from the iDownloadBlog, while the emojis can be typed, it is important to note that they will not appear correctly on the screen.

The emojis will sometimes appear as boxed question marks on the screen but they will display properly on other devices running on iOS 9.1. PoomSmart is reportedly working on a patch update to fix out the issues regarding the emojis' display capabilities.

"Emoji83+" installation is a three-step process as it first requires the PoomSmart repo to be added followed by the actual installation of "Emoji83+" and the iOS 9.1 font to the device in order for everything to work properly.

As for a proper iOS 9.1 jailbreak, Value Walk's report states that the numerous security additions and slight alterations to iOS 9.1 are the current roadblocks in PanGu Team and TaiG's efforts to jailbreak the OS. However, given that PanGu has been able to release a jailbreak for iOS 9.0 to 9.0.2 it may just be a matter of time before they break into 9.1.

iOS 9.1's most significant changes includes the inclusion of the new emojis and significant improvements for old devices utilizing the Live Photos sharing feature.
