iOS 8.3 to iOS 8.2: downgrade procedure detailed

 Apple Support page

Apple recently released the 8.3 build for the iOS, bringing a host of new changes and updates for the operating system. It also patched over 39 security flaws in the platform, which would make the recent iOS secure against any jailbreaking efforts.

With a host of updates, new features, and fixes, it seems that iOS 8.3 would be the preferred platform for Apple users. However, some fans still find problems with the newest build and wish to downgrade to the more stable iOS 8.2.

In order to do this though, fans would need to downgrade immediately while Apple is still listing the previous iOS version as an active one. Once the company shifts signing the iOS 8.2 to iOS 8.3, especially with reports of iOS 8.4 beta already in development, the downgrade steps would become more complex.

First, as with any software tweaks, users must first back up data and information, just to be safe. This is also done because downgrading the platform would wipe the device of any data and information; iPhones or iPads would be wiped clean.

Users should also download the IPSW iOS 8.2 for their device, making sure that the firmware model is correct. Once the file is downloaded, the device must then be connected to the computer, with the users booting up the iTunes app.

Once the device has been recognized, the users should then head to the Summary page for the device, and while holding down the Alt/Option on Mac and Shift key on Windows, they should then click the Restore iPhone button.

A prompt will then pop up, and users can then browse and select the iOS 8.2 IPSW file downloaded earlier. The downgrade will then take a few minutes to complete.
