Here's why we should learn to stand on our own two feet

All of us need to learn to stand up on our own two feet. As Christians given a new identity in the Lord as more than a conqueror and given a spirit of power, love and a sound mind, we should all learn to stand up for what really matters. (see Romans 8:37; 2 Timothy 1:7)

Standing up

The Bible tells us that our life as Christ-followers requires learning to stand up on our own two feet. It begins in repentance, and ends in each of us giving an account of our lives before the Lord on the day of judgment (see Romans 14:12). We all need to learn to stand up and take our stand in all matters of life.

We're in a war

We are given a choice to either join God's side through Jesus Christ or the enemy's side by not standing up for Jesus. Let's face it – there's no middle ground in this life we have. It's either we are for God or against God.

Some might say that I am exaggerating things, but I'm merely speaking spiritual truth. It's either we do the will of God – which is good, pleasing and perfect – or we don't do the will of God.

It's a personal choice

Because we are in a war, we should learn to make our own choices. We cannot rely on our pastor to make decisions for us. We cannot rely on our pastor to pull us up to a better relationship with God. Think about it. Our life as Christians is marked with various decision-making situations where we will be the ones choosing, not others.

- Your salvation by grace through faith is a product of your personal decision to trust in Christ's finished work (see Ephesians 2:8-9).

● Your identity as a child of God comes after you personally trusted in Christ and became adopted by God through Him; (see Ephesians 1:5; Romans 8:15)

● Your obedience to the Word of God is your personal choice and no one chooses for you;

● Your growth in your relationship with God is a product of your prayer times, Bible reading, and obedience;

● Your decision to avoid sinning will be your own, even though others will be helping you;

● You alone will give an account to God for all the words you've said and the life that you've lived.

Stand up

Friend, I encourage you, let's all learn to stand up on our own two feet, dependent only on the Lord for His strength, wisdom and guidance. We all have a role to play in this generation where God has put us in.

In time such as this (see Esther 4:14), Let's give Him glory – personally.
