One of the mainstays of the American police procedural television series, "Hawaii Five-0," will be making his final appearance in the 13th episode of the current season, bringing to an end a stint that started in the very first season of the remake of 1968 original series.

First reported by Entertainment Weekly, Masi Oka will be officially leaving "Hawaii Five-0" after seven long seasons, which means that the crime-busting task force lead by Commander Steve McGarrett (Alex O'Loughlin) will now have to look for another medical examiner as Oka's character, Dr. Max Bergman, decides to move to Africa after getting married.

It has been a successful ride so far for Oka, who started as a recurring character in episode 5 of the first season but eventually got the nod as a regular at the start of season 2 after positive feedback from viewers.

To recall, Dr. Bergman went on to miss several episodes towards the end of the sixth season as well as the first several episodes of the seventh season, where it was explained that he was abroad working with Doctors Without Borders. He only came back in the recently concluded Halloween episode, where he dressed up as another Keanu Reeves character. This also is the same episode where he told the guys about him marrying his girlfriend, Sabrina (Rumer Willis) while he was away.

Meanwhile, the latest episode of season 7 which aired yesterday titled "Elua la ma Nowemapa (Two Days in November)" was centered on the death of Jerry Ortega's (Jorge Garcia) friend who happened to be a conspiracy theorist studying the case of John F. Kennedy's assassination. For those who haven't seen the episode yet, it's one of the rare occasions where the task force dealt with a big-time, national mystery.

"Hawaii Five-0" airs every Friday at 9 p.m. ET on CBS.
