'Grimm' season 5 spoilers, plot: Small reboot somewhere down the line

Grimm NBC

"Grimm" season 5 is set to focus on an angrier Nick Burckhardt (David Giuntoli) after the royals killed his mother and turned his former girlfriend into a full-fledged traitor in the previous season. However, going against the royals won't be the only focus as Giuntoli also stated in an interview with AccessHollywood that a soft reboot will occur.

"There's a reboot this year! A little bit of a reboot, get ready for THAT, America!" the actor stated. "Wrap your head around the reboot."

According to the report, this is a big indication that the whole issue with the royals and other subplots might find some resolution before the midway point of season 5 so that the rest of the season can focus on an entirely new storyline. This new storyline will involve Nick's soon-to-be-born child with his one-time enemy Adalind Shade (Claire Coffee).

Giuntoli even stated that they are trying to get rid of the royals this season so that the meat of the show can focus on Nick and Adalind coming together to raise their child.

In an interview with ShowbizJunkies, Coffee stated that season 5 will not focus on romantic exploits between Nick and Adalind although there will be an intimate connection between the two. The baby is what will tie Adalind to Nick and the rest of the group. Coffee also explained that bringing her back in this manner resets "Grimm" in a way that circles back to how it all started in season 1.

"We're getting back to where "Grimm" began. Even with Adalind and Nick, there is a conversation between the two of them. She was the first woge that he saw back in the pilot, so it is getting back to what does it mean to be a Wesen and a Grimm. And I think it's just re-infusing all the characters with different energies," said Coffee.

"Grimm" season 5 premieres this Oct. 30.
