It was previously reported that the Green Lantern would not be appearing in the DCEU films until "Justice League: Part Two" at the earliest. However, according to the Latino-Review, the studios are already beginning the prep work needed for the "Green Lantern Corps" movie and it appears that the film will have three main heroes instead of just one.
The 2011 "Green Lantern" movie starred Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan, the first human to be given the powers of a Green Lantern. However, according to the report, the new film will not only have Hal Jordan but will also feature John Stewart and Kyle Rayner as Green Lanterns as well.
It is also pointed out that Hal will be slighty older as Warner Bros. Pictures is allegedly looking for an actor in his mid-40s. This indicates that Hal will be making an appearance in "Justice League: Part Two," and in the "Green Lantern Corps" movie, he may be passing the responsibilities to the two younger protagonists.
According to a report from Screen Rant, this opens opportunities for racial diversity in the film. While Hal Jordan is commonly depicted as a Caucasian male, John Stewart is African-American while Kyle Rayner is Mexican-American, allowing Warner Bros. Pictures to be more diverse with their casting choices.
It has been rumored that actor Tyrese Gibson has had discussions with Warner Bros. to portray John Stewart and the actor is 37 years old, right within the age range the studios are reportedly aiming for in regards to the two younger human Green Lanterns. However, neither Gibson nor Warner Bros. has confirmed that he has been cast in the role.
"Justice League: Part Two" is scheduled to be released in theaters by June 14, 2019 while the "Green Lantern Corps" film will be released by June 19, 2020.
