Google Nexus 7 release date, specs rumors: launch of device expected 2017

Staying positive is easier said than done, especially when it comes to the hope that the new version of the popular Google Nexus 7 tablet device will finally be released before the end of this year. The sad truth is that there only is barely one month left before 2017 and that would mean that it has been two years without an updated version of arguably Google's most successful offering in this segment.

The first thought was that the Nexus 7 (2016) would be released in October this year, but sadly, there was no announcement or even mention of it by Google. The fact that the search engine giant didn't hand out any information nor did it confirm its existence or development is proof enough that it will not be released, at least this year.

Another reason to believe that consumers won't be getting a hold of a next-generation Nexus 7 anytime soon is that there seems to be very little news, even rumors about it. Unlike other upcoming competing devices like the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3, the Apple iPad Pro 2 or the iPad Air 3, this one lacks the interest in the web, not because it's a low-end offering, but more on Google's continued silence about it.

There were speculations made in the past couple of months that Google was working with Chinese company Huawei to build the Nexus 7 (2016), even though the two companies didn't agree on developing the Pixel lineup of smartphones due to wanting to have exclusive branding rights to them. But Huawei isn't the only company linked to the building of the rumored tablet device, as PC Advisor also claimed that the American tech giant is working with Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer, HTC.

But the thing is those waiting for a new iteration of Google's popular tablet device won't really mind if it'll be built by Huawei or HTC, so long as an official announcement of it will be made sooner than later.
