HBO programming president Casey Bloys reportedly revealed that they have been planning on filming multiple endings for "Game of Thrones" season 8 in an attempt of avoiding spoilers. However, actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who plays Jamie Lannister, seems to doubt it.
Now that the fantasy series is about to begin its production, HBO remains secretive when it comes to some major details, especially since a number of spoilers about it have been flying around the web. The network is committing to a strategy to combat the possible leaks for the finale.
In a speaking engagement at Bethlehem's Moravian College, Bloys divulged, "I know in 'Game of Thrones,' the ending, they're going to shoot multiple versions so that nobody really know what happens. You have to do that on a long show. Because when you're shooting something, people know. So they're going to shoot multiple versions so that there's no real definitive answer until the end."
Nevertheless, Coster-Waldau recently voiced his doubts about the reports. Speaking with Marie Claire, the actor quipped, "Do you think that's true? It seems really stupid to me. I mean if it's true I don't believe it, but I don't know, maybe. I mean, I haven't read the script, so unless they will show several endings that could be a twist, they're not going to waste that money."
Coster-Waldau went on to divulge how it will raise unnecessary costs for the production of the series. He said, "They know how expensive it is to shoot. You're not going to waste $100,000 a day to shoot something you're not going to use. It's not going to happen."
Regardless, everyone should wait until "Game of Thrones" season 8 hits the television screens in 2019.
