'Final Fantasy X/ X-2 HD Remaster' news: Patch to fix random encounters

Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster Square-Enix

"Final Fantasy X/ X-2 HD Remaster" for the PlayStation 4 was released back in May but gamers quickly noticed that there are two bugs that ruin the experience. Even more intriguing is that these issues only appear in the PS4 version but not in the PS3 or PS Vita ports of the HD remaster. Square Enix has now officially announced that a patch to fix these issues will be released soon.

Square Enix's official post via Facebook reads: "We are aware of the audio and RNG bugs in Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster on PS4 and rest assured that we are in the process of creating a patch to fix them. Details on timing will come soon. We're sorry about the bugs but this is your story and we want you to be happy with it."

The most glaring technical issue is that the RNG or random number generator, which creates random encounters does not work properly. This means that random encounters are not random at all and gamers go through pre-determined battles. Reseting the game does not change what loot and enemies gamers encounter.

Broken audio loops for the field music is another issue. The field music is meant to pause when a random encounter happens and then restart once the battle is over. However, the glitch in the game makes the field music restart after every battle. This error also happens when accessing the game's menus.

Square Enix has not given a specific release date for the patch but has stated that it will be available soon.

"Final Fantasy X" and its sequel, "Final Fantasy X-2," were originally launched for the PlayStation 2 back in 2001 and 2003, respectively, before their HD Remasters were launched for the PS3 and Vita in 2014. The PS4 version was released on May 12 this year and features the option to switch between the original and remastered OST, quicker load times, and full HD visuals.
